Physical therapy offers a very rewarding career. However, becoming a physical therapist will require a lot of hard work and time. The normal time for becoming a physical therapist is around 6 years, as you will need to have at least a master’s degree in physical therapy in order to practice. Most places that employ physical therapist will want a person to have their doctorate.
The question is, how can I possibly afford physical therapy schooling? One of the best ways to earn money while you are in school is to work part time at a hospital or clinic. You can obtain a job working in a physical therapy office as a physical therapy aide. This is a wonderful way to gain experience about what type of work goes on as a physical therapist. Physical therapy aides are responsible for setting up the rooms and preparing the equipment that is necessary for each appointment throughout the day.
Another option is to first receive your associate’s degree and become a physical therapy assistant. This position requires an associate’s degree in the field and it will be necessary to pass a licensing examination. Working part-time as a physical therapy assistant is a great way to put yourself through physical therapy school.
Student loans are available to help pay your tuition through school. It is possible to pay for your education through these loan programs and then pay them back after you get your first job as a physical therapist. Physical therapy is a growing profession and it pays rather well, so paying back your educational loans should not be a problem.

You may very well have to live frugal for awhile not only to cut cost when trying to get into school but also while you are in school. Don't worry though it will pay off, you just need to pay your dues and be persistent with what it is that you are after!
